Life was certainly more pleasant when I spent time with Jas today. The movie wasn't fantastic, although, I did enjoy linking arms with her pressing my fingers to my ears at the parts we knew were shock-inducing. I think we're kind of both veteran watchers of the genre to know well enough when something is gonna jump out at you.
Boogeyman was hardly very scary at all. In fact, the actual title character looked alot like the purebred demon that movie-Constantine came across, the one that was made of funny little insects and crustaceans.
Like I said to Jasmine before, scary children who are scared aren't really that scary anymore. Now that Ju-On kid, now he ain't scared of nothing, which scares me to bits. Saw the trailer to the second The Eye sequel; not the least bit frightening, but I bet in the movie itself it will be. Although, the sole fact that a bunch of teens will be involved in some sort of game is a tad bit of a turn off.
The colors in Boogeyman were nice, in dark blue hues that were different that what was in Blade. The greens did remind me of Saw, but it was pretty. Even the actor was pretty.
All in all, the movie gets a bare three stars because Barry Watson's blessed good looks and acting ability saved the almost ridiculous legend-based story. It wasn't that bad, but it wasn't that good. I just didn't get the chill-factor up my spine, and that dropped the points on this film.
Jas and I managed to stay after the credits to see a short end though. Haha, we have learnt well from Constantine.
I bought the RE:Apocalypse DVD today, and didn't have enough cash even in my account to buy ESOTSM. GAHHHH. I was sad to give it back. But I bought a red memory card and got it a dollar cheaper only because I didn't have coins. Yay for the shopkeeper, he was nice. I didn't even have to haggle, he just gave me a straight on discount for stuff.
Things I want to buy:
I should really start watching Scarface and Schindler's List and Confessions of a Dangerous Mind just to see what the male gender is so fascinated about with these movies that they are left in awe after watching them. I have time this week and next week, So DVD watching away I go. Mafia movies aren't really my favourites (I never made it through the Godfather I, yet), but I'm willing to give this a chance.
Ahh well. Written test on Monday. I feel I should be reading the papers, but I hope the written test wouldn't count and the interview would. I pray to God that will happen. :P.
